Food and Cooking by Student GroupsFood must be ordered in Cairns for delivery by barge, which arrives once every two weeks. Groups send their food orders to the Station about a month before the visit. The orders are then placed with the suppliers by Station staff at the correct time to ensure that the order is filled and delivered on time. Groceries, fruit and vegetables are ordered from Coles or a small local supplier; liquor is also available. The best way for groups to organise meal preparation and cleaning up is by roster.
