Researchers underwater

The Lizard Island Research Station is well set up for independent scuba diving by suitably qualified researchers. The Station has more than 50 scuba tanks of various sizes which are filled by divers on a rostered basis using two Bauer compressors.

For divers who are qualified according to the Station's scuba diving regulations, scuba tanks and air fills are included in the bench fee. Weights and belts are available at no extra cost to all visitors. Most divers bring their own gear other than tanks and weight belts. For those who don't, high quality diving gear is available for hire. Most of the Station's diving gear has been generously donated by the Apollo Sports Company.
